A strategic leader and former Founder & CEO with a proven track record of delivering major capital projects, operational transformation, and multi-site organisational growth across the leisure, education, and community infrastructure sectors.

Over a 20-year executive career, I founded and scaled a regional leisure and education group from inception to a 600-employee organisation with £9 million annual turnover. I led the full lifecycle delivery of multiple leisure and public infrastructure projects—from initial concept and funding through procurement, construction, and operational launch—working in partnership with local authorities, contractors, governing bodies, and community stakeholders.

My expertise lies in delivering complex, publicly accountable projects that balance commercial viability with long-term community value, alongside providing board-level strategic governance across healthcare, housing, and sport.

Rob Johnson

Rob Johnson is a senior leader in the leisure industry with extensive experience delivering exceptional guest experiences in large, complex environments. As Head of Park Experience and Leisure Operations at Haven, he leads the park’s leisure operations and plays a key role in shaping the overall guest experience. Rob oversees a wide range of activities, facilities, and operational teams, ensuring experiences are engaging, well-managed and consistently high quality.

Known for his energetic, people-focused leadership style, Rob works closely with teams across the park to maintain high service standards and continually enhance the guest journey.

Before joining Haven, Rob was Director of Leisure at Sentinel Leisure Trust, where he managed multiple facilities and large operational teams, helping strengthen customer experience and develop operational capability. He is passionate about creating environments where people can relax, connect and enjoy memorable experiences.

Directed the delivery of a major coastal leisure infrastructure project, creating high-quality visitor facilities while generating significant new revenue streams for the local authority. The development contributed to tourism growth, local economic regeneration, and enhanced long-term asset value.

Led the creation and establishment of multiple independent cultural and leisure trusts in partnership with local authorities. This included developing governance structures, financial models, legal frameworks, and operational strategies to ensure long-term sustainability, improved service delivery, and enhanced access to external funding opportunities.

These projects enabled local authorities to secure more resilient operating models while protecting and enhancing vital community services.

Led and supported major public sector procurement exercises involving leisure management and operational service delivery. Led the strategic development of multiple beach hut sites in partnership with local authorities, creating sustainable income-generating assets. These projects delivered significant increases in both capital receipts and recurring revenue, while enhancing the quality and appeal of coastal destinations.

This work combined commercial development expertise with public sector partnership working to maximise long-term financial and community value.
